Book presentation: Gaza, Gaza, Gaza.
The writers of Palestine are still writing
Atmosphere Books
There are words that don't make the news.
There are stories that no one tells.
There are words written in dark rooms, under a sky crisscrossed by drones.
Words written standing, fleeing, amidst the rubble.
Words written near a child exhausted by hunger and fear.
Words written to resist.
Gaza, Gaza, Gaza. The writers of Palestine are still writing collects those words.
Stories, poems, reflections that don't ask for the spotlight, but for silence and listening.
Voices that don't recount the war. They pass through it. They inhabit it.
Those who write do so while everything around them collapses: the house, the school, the street, the hospital... the future.
Those who read today can become an echo that challenges the silence, a bridge that doesn't collapse.
During the evening, speakers will include Rosanna Romano, editor of the Italian edition; Samir Al Qaryouti, an Italian-Palestinian journalist and an authoritative voice on Middle Eastern affairs; and Elettra Gallo, of the Global Forum on Human Rights (UNODC).
The authors' voices will be entrusted to Salerno-based book writers from the Rome-based Donne di Carta association. They will neither read nor recite; they will recite selected passages from memory.
On this occasion, their presence is a collective act of resistance and solidarity.
It is a voice that protects and preserves the voices of Gaza.
A portion of the proceeds from the book's sales will be donated to organizations supporting the people of Gaza.
We thank the Salerno-based Memoria in Movimento association for their support and sensitivity in this initiative.
