This is one of those plays that leaves your heart aching. EL PAÍS

How necessary theater is when it invites reflection and moves you in equal measure! 14.4, without a doubt, leaves its mark. PLATEA

14.4 aims to explore, through starkly realistic yet undisguisedly lyrical and poetic language, the journey that separates two worlds just 14.4 kilometers apart.
We will follow the story of Ahmed, a boy who escapes family abuse to live on the streets of Tangier. There, in the streets of the port city, adventures, dreams, misadventures, and an all-encompassing obsession with crossing to Spain will emerge. A Spain that is seen as paradise on earth, the end of the road, the Ithaca every traveler dreams of.
Ahmed manages to cross to the peninsula at the age of 9, hidden under a truck. And here, in the promised land, another odyssey will begin, one that is far from the dream but not without a sense of humor, adventures, networks of solidarity, and unexpected endings.

THE PROJECT

14.4 was born in 2009 during the filming of the short film Metropolis Ferry (Director Juan Gautier), which tells the story of three brothers who, returning from Morocco, have an incident in the port of Algeciras when they discover the mistreatment by port authorities of a Moroccan boy traveling hidden under a truck.
On the first day of filming, the actor who was supposed to play the Moroccan boy didn't show up on set, and the role ended up being played by the boy who inspired part of the story: Ahmed Younoussi. Ahmed was about 17 years old at the time and had come to the set accompanied by Borja, his tutor, to advise the actor who didn't show up.
But that day his life would take a new direction. Surprised by his ability to tackle a film shoot, deliver a line, and sound organic, without any experience, I decided to offer Borja my help in finding him a scholarship at an acting school in Madrid. The following year, Ahmed was in his first year at Cristina Rota's school.
Even then, after hearing his story, I promised him and Borja that one day he himself would get up on stage to share it with the audience.
Almost 15 years have passed, and it seems the project is finally starting and the circle is closing.
Borja passed away prematurely a few years ago, and this performance is not only necessary for what it tells, but also a tribute to all those who "mentor," help, welcome, and care for those children we now know as unaccompanied minors (MENAs), and who, like Ahmed, have been on the streets from a very early age, fleeing the hell of their own homes, dreaming of the mirage of a Europe that is still far from even considering them.
