Carmen Díez de Rivera was a woman ahead of her time. This expression fits like a glove for someone who felt free from childhood, in a society and time when claiming to be independent and a woman was simply daring. Possessing a brilliant intelligence and inexhaustible tenacity, she never settled for conventional answers and sought the truth at any cost.

Her life was so exceptional that it has parallels with Greek tragedies, such as Antigone and Ariadne. She was born into bizarre family circumstances, among the elite of the Spanish aristocracy, but a family secret forever cut short her destiny. She renounced class privileges and rose to a position no woman has ever held in this country: Chief of Staff to the President of the Government.

Her time as president took place during one of the most interesting, complex, and intense periods in Spanish history: the Transition. Surrounded by people who have gone down in history as protagonists, she fought, often alone, against everything and everyone. With a firm will and an intelligent outlook, she always aimed to guide her country toward what she considered a position of normality: democracy. Her strength and courage in this public endeavor contrast with her sadness and inability to find inner peace, shattered since her adolescence.

On stage, a woman with a sad gaze and an iron will recounts the high points of her intense and challenging political career while recalling the intimate episodes that shaped her misfortune and her character. Some of the most important figures in our history will pass through her memory and before our eyes.
