Pasión Vega presents the show "Pasión Almodóvar," a compilation of the most iconic songs from Pedro Almodóvar's filmography, in which the artist will share the stage with one of the most renowned jazz pianists on the current music scene, Moisés P. Sánchez.
She was born on April 23rd in Madrid, but at the age of 3 her family moved to Málaga. In this Andalusian city, Pasión Vega grew up in a family-oriented and musical environment. Her parents, avid music lovers, instilled in her from a young age a love of music from all over the world.
This Madrid native, Málaga native, began to stand out for her musical talent from a young age. No one could have believed that this shy and cheerful girl could possess such a beautiful and expressive voice. Years later, Antonio Banderas himself would describe her as "the voice of silk" in the collaboration he did with the Spanish singer for his album La reina del Pay Pay (2006), performing a duet with Pasión on the song "Soñando Contigo" (Soying with You).
At 15 years old, Pasión Vega entered her first music competition, held in her hometown of Málaga. She later entered several national music competitions. Ana María Alias Vega's talent did not go unnoticed, and she won every competition she entered.
Initially, Pasión Vega performed the greatest hits of Spanish song, drawing on tradition to gradually enrich herself and forge her own style. At this early stage, without the support of a major multinational and with hardly any promotion, Pasión Vega managed to fill the most important theaters in Andalusia. The major multinationals of the music industry were quick to echo the success of a very young Pasión Vega, and in 2001 she signed her first major record deal with BMG.
With BMG, she released her first national album, PASIÓN VEGA, in 2002, which garnered widespread acclaim from both audiences and critics. Thus, the artist began a career as a national performer. Her second album, Banderas de nadie, in 2003, confirmed that we are witnessing a major star who will be making waves. Her subsequent works include Flaca de amor (Flaca de amor) in 2005, an album that led a few months later to the release of her first live DVD, Pasión en la maestranza (Pasion in the Maestranza); followed by La reina del Pay-Pay (La Reina del Pay-Pay) in 2006; and Pura Pasión (Pura Pasión) in 2008, an album released only in Argentina and intended to make her debut in Latin America. With SONY MUSIC, she recorded her work Gracias a la vida (Thanks to Life) (2009), a tribute album to the Latin American music that has so influenced this artist's style. This work allowed her to conquer audiences in Buenos Aires, performing three concerts in the Argentine capital. Her first concert was at the Teatro Maipo in 2008, followed by two concerts at the Teatro El Nacional, a concert that was recorded and later released on DVD. This same album took her to Mexico, captivating all those in attendance at the Sala Lunario of Mexico's National Auditorium. Her next album was Sin Compasión (Without Compassion) in 2011, for which Pasión Vega was nominated for the 2012 Latin Grammys for Best Traditional Pop Album. Grandes Éxitos (Greatest Hits) followed in 2012.
In 2013, she signed with the record label CONCERT MUSIC, and in December 2014, Pasión por Cano was released, a heartfelt tribute to Granada-born singer-songwriter Carlos Cano. This meticulous production is by the prestigious composer and conductor Fernando Velázquez (creator of soundtracks such as The Impossible, Crimson Peak, Hercules, The Orphanage, and A Monster Calls, for which he won the Goya for Best Original Score in 2017). The collaboration was enlisted by the Spanish Radio and Television Orchestra and the Grand Dame of Music, María Dolores Pradera.
In December 2015, due to its success, Pasión Vega reissued a special edition of this latest work. To this end, she decided to invite colleagues such as Joan Manuel Serrat, Noa, Miguel Poveda, Estrella Morente, and India Martínez to collaborate. This was thanks to the complicity and rapport between the Israeli singer Noa and Pasión, following the recording of the duet Sonata de la Luna in Marrakesh. Noa invited Pasión to a series of concerts in Israel in December 2016. From this experience, a joint project was born: Mediterráneas. A unique concert tour that began at the prestigious Jardins Pedralbes Festival in Barcelona.
In 2017, her eighth studio album, 40 Quilates, was released. She once again enlisted the production of talented composer Fernando Velázquez. It is an eclectic and elegant offering in which Pasión Vega reflects the maturity and experience gained after more than 20 years of a successful musical career.
Just one year later, in November 2018, Pasión Vega presented the reissue of her 40 Quilates, a CD + DVD featuring seven songs in an acoustic session; 40 Quilates. Special Edition...
In 2019, Pasión Vega returns with Todo lo que tengo (All I Have), with which the performer delves deeply into Latin America, its roots and musical influences, and presents us with 13 new interpretations: 13 songs drenched in color, genuine timbres, purity, and unique sensitivity.
Now, the artist reinvents herself once again with a new album project, Lorca Sonoro (2022). In the pure voice of Pasión, she resurrects Federico García Lorca. A collection of his poems set to music, which spans continents and languages. An album on which the Malaga-born performer has worked closely with musician and producer Jacob Sureda, to take us deeper into our roots through a fresh and contemporary sound.
Pasión has performed in the most important theaters in Spain; Royal Theatre in Madrid, Gran Teatro del Liceo in Barcelona, La Maestranza Theatre in Seville, Generalife Theatre in the Alhambra in Granada, Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao, and the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia Auditorium in Valencia.
