Colombian singer-songwriter Juan Fernando Fonseca includes the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium on his Tropicalia world tour. The eight-time Latin Grammy winner and two-time Grammy nominee is known simply by his last name: Fonseca. 2024 has been an extraordinary year for nine-time Latin Grammy winner Fonseca, who has solidified his musical legacy with the album Tropicalia. This work not only earned him two Latin Grammys but has also been praised as a masterpiece that pays homage to his tropical roots and the sounds that have defined his artistic career. It is worth noting that Tropicalia was highlighted by Rolling Stone magazine as one of the great Spanish-language albums of 2024. as well as Billboard magazine, which included it among the best albums of 2024.
This album blends different musical styles such as bolero, salsa, vallenato, tropipop, and merengue, with collaborations with artists such as Grupo Niche, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Chucho Valdés, and Alex Cuba.
“Tropicalia is my interpretation of our tropical essence, our Latin essence. We are a blend of cultures, sounds, accents. We are a blend of our own tropicalism. That's why Tropicalia is my way of paying homage to my greatest influences, to the sounds that have inspired me and that are also part of my sound,” says Fonseca.
