Rita Payés presents her third album, "De Camino al Camino," at the Canarias Jazz & Más International Festival. This work delves into the search for the beauty of everyday things and encourages us to keep moving forward, in a unique blend of styles and influences with the symbolism of the path as its guiding thread.
Endowed with an unusual musical sensibility, composer, trombonist, and singer Rita Payés is, at 25 years old, a unique performer capable of moving and surprising in every live performance.
She is accompanied on this foray into the 34th Canarias Jazz & Más Festival by a prestigious band comprised of her mother, Elisabeth Roma (classical guitar), Pol Batlle (vocals and electric guitar), Horacio Fumero (double bass), and Juan Berbín (drums and percussion).
Rita Payés debuted in the recording world with a pair of albums with Joan Chamorro, thus beginning her international career. In addition to her participation in the Sant Andreu Jazz Band between 2014 and 2018, she participated in all of the band's albums, and sub-bands, recorded during that period. She subsequently participated occasionally as a collaborating artist, both in recordings and live performances.
A close relationship and affection led her to collaborate with guitarist Elisabeth Roma, her mother. They co-led and self-released two albums together, records constructed from covers and, for the first time, their own songs influenced by jazz, bossa nova, bolero, classical music, and popular songs. Songs like "Algo Contigo" and recordings like "Nunca Vas A Comprehend" catapulted her career, garnering, to date, 1.3 million monthly listeners.
In parallel, she has worked with a multitude of musicians from different fields. Her versatility as an instrumentalist and singer has led her to collaborate in several big bands and countless jazz training projects. Such as her collaboration with the prestigious German big band WDR Big Band, who dedicated a program to her featuring arrangements of her own songs; or her collaboration with the Clasijazz Big Band, recently directed by the renowned and admired Maria Schneider.
Although she grew up with jazz as her flagship, her career has led her to broaden her stylistic interests. This openness has also led her to collaborate with artists such as C. Tangana, Silvana Estrada, Salvador Sobral, Kiko Veneno, and Silvia Pérez Cruz.
With her new album De Camino al Camino, Rita Payés makes her first release exclusively of her own compositions. Payés cordially invites you to join her, step by step, along this musical journey where emotion, mastery, and a connection with her roots converge in a special way.
