Michael Olivera & The Cuban Jazz Syndicate is a solid formation of great Cuban musicians led by the talented drummer Michael Olivera.
With a long career as a drummer, producer, composer and arranger, Cuban Michael Olivera is a graduate of the National School of Art in Havana, where he began his career as a sideman playing with the most outstanding artists of the island of Cuba.
After moving to Madrid, he recorded his first work as a bandleader, 'Ashé', a word that comes from the Yoruba language (Afro-Cuban), and whose meaning is "divine blessing." After the success of 'Ashé', Olivera presented his second album, 'Oasis', once again captivating the entire audience with a sea of contagious melodies and rhythms. Now Olivera brings us a new formation, 'The Cuban Jazz Syndicate', which brings together the best Cuban artists of today.
Closely linked to the jazz and world music scene, he is one of the most important drummers on the current music scene, with more than 60 recorded albums and hundreds of projects with which he has participated in such important festivals as Jazz a Vienne, Marciac, North Sea Jazz, Montreux Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Fest, Blue Note NY, Blue Note Tokyo, Jakarta Jazz Festival, Warsaw Jazz Festival, Madrid Jazz Festival, Barcelona Jazz Festival, among many others.
From a very early age he has developed a long and intense professional career, collaborating with artists and producers such as Quincy Jones, Alfredo Rodríguez, Richard Bona, Ibrahim Malouf, Paquito de Rivera, Pepe Rivero, Jorge Pardo, Rick Wakeman, Javier Colina, Tomatico, Munir Hossn, Yonathan Avishai, Síntesis and Chano Dominguez, to name a few.
