Maribel, a professional prostitute, meets Marcelino, a naive and rather timid young man, who, without Maribel knowing his intentions, takes her to his family’s house so they can get to know her and thus get married. There Maribel finds herself surrounded by kindly old women, Mrs. Matilde and Mrs. Paula, Marcelino's mother and aunt respectively, who fully accept her, giving her the role of a modern girl. Maribel begins to live her own fairy tale, when her professional colleagues burst into their relationship, puzzled by Marcelino's true intentions and even believing they can foresee disastrous consequences for their wedding plans.
DIRECTOR'S NOTES
A naturalistic comedy with large doses of absurdity, which appears in the dialogues and in the situations of growing tension, with characters that reflect the grotesque, unruly and picaresque Spain, who despite the difficulties still maintain their humanity and the right to imagine.
An aesthetic proposal, designed by José Luis Massó, based on the psychedelia of the 70s, an ideological and aesthetic moment in which Mauricio's family has remained anchored, accompanied by a contemporary dynamism in the staging and the acting movement. The lively, hilarious and surprising rhythm of the dialogues, the almost mystery-thriller intrigue, a Hitchcock-style background, are already provided by Mihura himself, who even today continues to satisfy the needs of the public as he did in his years of greatest commercial success.
