The Gran Canaria Wind Orchestra presents in its second concert of the 10th season, under the baton of David Fiuza Souto, a program dedicated to the Russian Ballet, where you can enjoy classical works by Tchaikovsky and Profkofiev and 'The Rite of Spring' by Stravinsky
The Gran Canaria Wind Orchestra offers us an attractive program in its second concert of the 10th Season dedicated to Russian ballet, where we can listen to a more classical first part with Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev and a more avant-garde second part with the genius of Stravinsky and his Rite of Spring.
Gran Canaria Wind Orchestra
The concern for professional improvement and the lack of an orchestra of such characteristics in Gran Canaria, prompted a group of outstanding professionals from the island geography to unite altruistically for a common goal: the transmission of sensations through the highest interpretative demands that a formation of this type requires. In this way, the Gran Canaria Wind Orchestra (GCWO) was born in 2015.
Years later, the Gran Canaria Wind Orchestra has enjoyed both national and international recognition from the band industry, becoming a leading leader in innovation and dissemination of both contemporary and original repertoire, as well as classical orchestral transcriptions for the band, aiming to offer the best world repertoires and performances in emblematic quality spaces.
The main objective of the project is to disseminate the stylistic diversity of the wind orchestra's repertoire, seeking the band as a meeting point, which accommodates the great versatility of music of all kinds of styles and periods, as well as the aesthetic tastes of the public.
In addition, to address a cutting-edge repertoire by programming concert seasons usually in concert halls and addressing the need for a group that accommodates both wind and percussion professionals, as well as students, providing them with the opportunity to train their instrumental practice in professional groups.
It is also an important objective to bring to the Canary Islands great conductors and composers specialising in bands of national and international stature, as well as to encourage contemporary Canarian composition for band groups and our training in particular, as a tool for the learning and practice of composers.
