CANTANDO ADMONT
With the director Cordula Bürgi at the helm, Cantando Admont presents at the Contemporáneo a program that begins with a Renaissance work to continue with recent pieces, including a premiere by the Canarian composer Gonzalo Díaz Yerro.
Cantando Admont thus gives space to contemporary music without forgetting the great ancient repertoire. Their career has taken them to perform at renowned festivals and events, and in halls such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
Their commitment to high-quality performance and innovative approach make them one of the most exciting ensembles today. Upcoming projects include the world premiere of Beat Furrer’s new opera.
Cantando Admont regularly collaborates with outstanding composers and ensembles. Their passion for vocal music makes them exceptional ambassadors of this art. Furthermore, convinced by the continuous study of both repertoires, they have established a new concert tradition in Graz with “Concert Talk & Solo Cantando”.

Cordula Bürgi
Born and raised in Switzerland, she studied violin at the Lucerne University of Music, and conducting and singing at the Basel Academy of Music. As a child she already played in various youth orchestras and chamber music ensembles, and it was from an early age that she discovered her enthusiasm for early and contemporary music. In 2008 she took over the musical direction of the Basel Girls' Choir and, after continuous development work at the various levels of the choir, has supervised numerous concerts and theatre productions at the Basel Theatre. She has also been invited to conduct numerous other productions, such as at the Berlin State Opera (Beat Furrer's opera "Violetter Schnee"), the Graz Opera and the SWR Vokalensemble.

In 2014 she moved to Vienna and founded the early and contemporary music ensemble "Cantando Admont". This solo ensemble, made up of outstanding voices and with Cordula as artistic director, established itself on the European music scene within just a few years, performing at renowned festivals such as the Salzburg Festival, the Bayreuth Festival, the Acht Brücken Festival in Cologne, the Munich Biennale, the Klangspuren Schwaz, the Wien Modern, the Bern Music Festival, the ZeitRäume in Basel, the Mahler Festival in Toblach and in venues such as the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires and the Onassis Centre in Athens. An opera production is planned for 2025 at the Zurich Opera House. As conductor, she performs at the Cantando Admont concerts both at home and abroad, collaborating with various European instrumental ensembles, such as the KNM in Berlin and the Ensemble Phace in Vienna.
