The flamenco company Rocío Pozo brings its new show to Guiniguada, which is an ode to Lola Flores. Her indelible legacy in the history of flamenco and female empowerment endures as a source of inspiration for those who seek freedom through art and passion. 'From Jerez to Gran Canaria' tells us how the island welcomed flamenco art and the influence of the unforgettable Lola in this Canarian paradise. A new proposal where flamenco dance is the protagonist, which is part of our 'Guniguada en Danza' line.
Recommended age: From 12 years
Duration: 90 minutes

In this work, Rocío Pozo's company explores the life and impact of an iconic flamenco figure and a clear example of female empowerment, along with other great contemporary women.
“A journey of discovery, celebration and love for life. From the tabancos of Jerez to the golden beaches of Gran Canaria, each step, each beat, takes us closer to the very essence of empowered femininity. Prepare to be inspired by their passion and determination!”
'From Jerez to Gran Canaria' honors great women, like Lola, and other contemporaries such as Carmen Amaya, Pino Ojeda and Josefina de la Torre, who also used art to leave an indelible mark on culture.

If there is something that can define the multifaceted creative singularity of Rocío Pozo, it is her deep-rooted ethical sense of culture. She is convinced that art carries, in its essence and in the emotion that produces it, a deep commitment to life and memory, taken in its organic sense, integrating the singularity of the Self and the diversity of the Other.
For this artist who has made dance and flamenco her poetic homeland, modernity is tradition in movement and the dynamism of our languages and ideas. His creative and aesthetic contribution lies in his serenity when speaking without complexes with all languages and making them accept the mythical hospitality of flamenco.
Using the fundamental codes of the flamenco language and researching inside and outside it, in the understanding of flamenco as an evolving, contemporary, lively, generous and hospitable art, emblematic flamenco styles will be used, such as bulerías, with its festive rhythm and contagious; the soleás, deep and solemn; the fandangos, vibrant and nostalgic; the zorongos, sensual and evocative; and the martinets, solemn and heartbreaking. Each of these suits, with its unique character and emotion, will contribute to the narrative of the work, creating a rich and diverse mosaic of artistic expressions.
